As Franciscan sisters, an autonomous part of the Society of St Francis, our primary vocation is to live the gospel
in our time and in the places to which we are called. The setting for this is our life in community, under vows.
Our wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and gifts contributes to many ways of expressing the three elements of
prayer, study and work. Prayer together and alone, with the Eucharist having a central place, is at the heart of
each house and each sister's life. Four of our sisters are priests; and three live the solitary life. Study nurtures
our spiritual life and enables and enriches our ministries. Work includes the practical running of our houses and
a wide range of ministries; currently these include hospitality, spiritual direction, prison chaplaincy, parish
work and missions, preaching, leading quiet days and retreats, writing, being a presence in poor urban areas, nursing,
and work with blind deaf people. Some of this work is salaried, much is voluntary. Each new sister brings her unique
gifts, adding a new dimension to our life. As we approach our centenary, we are excited by the challenge of living
the Franciscan life in the twenty-first century.
