COMMUNITY OF ST PETER   CSP

The Community was founded by Benjamin Lancaster, a Governor of St George's Hospital, Hyde Park, London.  He wished his poorer patients to have convalescent care before returning to their homes.   The Sisters also nursed cholera and TB patients, and opened orphanages and homes for children and the elderly.  They were asked by priests to help in the parish and they were asked to go to Korea in 1892.  They have close links with the Society of the Holy Cross in Korea, which was founded by the Community (see separate entry).

Since the closure of their Nursing/Care Home, new work is undertaken outside the Community in the way of continued care, using Sisters' abilities, talents and qualifications in nursing, counselling and social work.  The Sisters live in houses located where they can carry out their various works and ministry.  They recite their fourfold daily Office either together in their houses or individually within their work place.
